Healthier people, stronger communities and a better world.

Our Story

Ellen Rubin is the founder and Executive Director of Therapeutic CraftCare (TCC). Although trained as an immunologist and having worked for Wyeth-Ayerst, Merck and Fox Chase Cancer Center, she has always had a creative streak, and has been teaching knitting and crochet for more than twenty years in settings as diverse as local yarn shops, libraries, hospitals, and during & after-school programs in elementary schools.

In 2017, she opened Luv2Knit & More, a full-service yarn store which is the base support for TCC. Ellen says, “I am grateful that I can impart my love of knitting, crochet and other fiber arts to others. With its scientifically based benefits, students who learn to knit develop life-long skills and can experience the joys of creativity and more.” We have lots of volunteers who help in different capacities. Volunteers who want to, are taught how to teach knitting or crochet to others.

What we do

We Care

We specialize in working with people that have physical, emotional and/or mental disabilities or challenges and approach these lessons with care, compassion and patience. Fiber arts can soothe anxiety, increase focus skills and improve hand/eye coordination.

We Unite

We work with hospitals to bring fiber crafts to those willing to learn, not only pass time, but to improve fine motor skills and alleviate stress. Our goal for working with local libraries is to provide an event to encourage connection and bonding within the community. In schools, we often work specifically with the special needs department to provide an activity for the kids to participate in together that has been proven to improve concentration so much so that rocking motions and fidgeting is lessened while focused on these fiber crafts.

We Give Back

We make several donations to all of the locations we have already mentioned & more. We donate finished items to NICUs, we donate baskets for craft lovers to local organizations and we take donations to then distribute to facilities in need.
